If you’ve done the smart thing and added Google reCaptcha V3 to your contact forms, customer account creation and customer login pages on your WordPress or WooCommerce website, you’re pointing in the right direction.
You may also now be wondering why the hell the Google reCaptcha v3 logo appears in the bottom right hand corner of the screen on EVERY page.
You MIGHT accept the fact that it would appear on your contact page, or wherever you’ve setup Google reCaptcha – but EVERY page?! Come on Google, give me a break!
Am I allowed to remove the Invisible reCaptcha Badge?
Yes. In short, you’re allowed to remove the badge – AS LONG as you stay within their terms of use, which means that you need to provide a notice to users that Google reCaptcha is being used in the specific areas where reCaptcha is working.
Google Says:
You are allowed to hide the badge as long as you include the reCAPTCHA branding visibly in the user flow. Please include the following text:
This site is protected by reCAPTCHA and the Google
<a href="https://policies.google.com/privacy">Privacy Policy</a> and
<a href="https://policies.google.com/terms">Terms of Service</a> apply.
You can check out the Google Terms for reCaptcha v3 here.
They give a worked example of the policy notice in place under a basic contact form.
How to remove reCaptcha Badge from your website
Google ALSO says to remove the reCaptcha badge you should use the following CSS:
.grecaptcha-badge { visibility: hidden; }
Use the above CSS as recommended by Google.
It was reported on Stack Overflow that using the “display: none;” CSS Disables the reCaptcha
WARNING: display: none DISABLES the spam checking!
